Intrinsic Safety Circuit Design Requirements

Time:2026-05-29

To achieve Ex i certification, equipment must meet strict circuit and structural design requirements.

Key Design Considerations

1.Low-Energy Circuit Design

• Use low-power electronic components

• Minimize voltage and current levels

• Control stored energy in capacitors and inductors

2.Wiring and Insulation

• Cable cross-sectional area must comply with standards

• Insulation performance must prevent leakage and short circuits

3.Thermal Safety

• Surface temperatures must remain below ignition temperatures of hazardous substances

4.Spark and Fault Testing

Equipment must pass:

• Spark ignition tests

• Thermal tests

• Fault simulation tests

These tests verify that the equipment remains safe even under abnormal operating conditions.
